CHICAGO, IL (August 8, 2013) – Classic Kids Photography announces the return of The Lovie Project, an initiative giving people the opportunity to create modern art from photos of their beloved childhood friends and providing thousands of comfort items to children in need. Launched in 2011, The Lovie Project was quickly embraced with Classic Kids photographers from New York to San Francisco photographing hundreds of well-loved toys, from threadbare teddy bears to tattered blankets to Matchbox cars. These photo shoots have yielded striking pieces of modern art and thousands of new Lovies for children in need. On September 1, 2013, The Lovie Project returns to Classic Kids in support of The Primo Center for Women & Children in Chicago and their partners across the country. Lovie photo shoots are free with the donation of a new comfort item. For more information, please visit www.thelovieproject.com.
Specializing in photographing children, Classic Kids photographers have shot Lovies for years, sometimes at the feet of their owners and other times tucked under their arms. In 2011, they were inspired by the enormous potential these comfort items could have as the photo’s subject. “The Lovie Project is one of the best things we’ve done in our 20-year history,” says Julie Floyd, owner of Classic Kids. “Working with Lovies as subjects fed us creatively and seeing children at the local shelters choose a Lovie of their very own was incredibly moving for all of us. These items truly hold a special place in people’s hearts and that love comes through in the photographs.”
Launching in time for the holidays, Classic Kids invites people to consider the possibilities for gift giving. “This is a great opportunity to create meaningful gifts that are not only beautiful, they’re fabulous conversation pieces,” explains Floyd. A range of products are available, from modern art on canvas to charm bracelets to stationery, and 10% of Lovie print sales will be contributed to the Primo Center for Women & Center to support their efforts to expand their services nationwide.
Lovie photo sessions will be held September 1 through November 30, 2013 in Classic Kids studios across the country, including New York, Chicago, San Francisco and Los Angeles. Lovies may also be sent to studios by mail. To locate studios and schedule appointments, please visit www.classickidsphotography.com.
