(Avalon, Catalina Island, Calif.)—The Santa Catalina Island Company is hosting Shipwreck Weekend 2013, a weekend-long party in Two Harbors March 22 to 24. Tickets, which can be booked can be booked at www.visitcatalinaisland.com, are on sale for just $10 until Friday, March 15, after which the price increases to $20 for three action-packed days of entertainment, games and contests.
“We wanted to create an early spring live-music event that replicates the fun and excitement that October’s Buccaneer Days event has long brought into Two Harbors,” says Randall Herrel, CEO of the Santa Catalina Island Company.
The party kicks
off Friday evening at the Harbor Reef Saloon with a DJ and drinks, followed by
a live band performance from 7 to 11 p.m.. Saturday’s events include a castaway costume contest, raft-building
contest, treasure hunts and much more. Visitors are encouraged to visit the
Recreation Center at Two Harbors to rent gear and enjoy Catalina Island’s
incredible hiking, trail running, sea kayaking, snorkeling, stand-up paddle
boarding, fishing and more.
As the sun starts to sink toward the horizon, a live band retakes the stage.
Between sets, a DJ spins tunes on the deck, keeping the energy high late into
the night. On Sunday morning, a breakfast buffet is served at the West End
Galley.
Camping is available at Two Harbors for $21 per adult per night, and tent cabins
can be booked for $50. Boat
moorings are available based on a first-come, first-served basis (inquires can
be directed to moorings@scico.com or 310-510-4253) and cross-channel transportation is available from San
Pedro aboard the Catalina Express, from Newport Beach on the Catalina Flyer or
take a wild ride through Catalina's rugged interior on the Catalina Safari Bus from
Avalon.
Accommodations are also available at the historic Banning House Lodge, newly
