FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

TVMF To Host Fundraiser Benefitting Meals on Wheels Program for Pets

AUSTIN—Austin pet owners are invited to indulge themselves and their pooches for a good cause. On Thursday, September 5, the Texas Veterinary Medical Foundation (TVMF) and Meals on Wheels and More (MOWAM) will host Poochinis and Peticures, an event during which pet owners and pets alike will be pampered as owners sip on Poochini martinis while their four-legged friends enjoy treats and a nail trim.

The event will benefit the TVMF P.A.L.S. program, a partnership between TVMF and the Pets Assisting the Live of Seniors (P.A.L.S.) program of MOWAM that provides free veterinary care and wellness services to animals belonging to Austinites who are homebound, elderly or disabled. The purpose of TVMF P.A.L.S. is to strengthen the human-animal bond by ensuring the health and welfare of these animals.

TVMF partnered with MOWAM in February 2012 in order to have a direct impact on the well-being of Texas companion animals and recruited Texas Veterinary Medical Association (TVMA) veterinarians to donate their time by treating participating pets. TVMF P.A.L.S. is made possible by public donations, product donations from partners, MOWAM transportation volunteers and time donated by partner veterinarians.

The event will take place at one of Austin’s favorite pet boutiques, Lofty Dog, in the Village Shopping Center at 2700 W. Anderson Lane, Ste. 402, on September 5, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

About the Texas Veterinary Medical Foundation

Headquartered in Austin, Texas, the Texas Veterinary Medical Foundation (TVMF) was established in 1978 as a 501(c)3 charitable and philanthropic nonprofit organization dedicated to ensuring the health and welfare of animals throughout Texas. By celebrating the human-animal bond through education on best practices in animal care and husbandry as well as community and public relations, research, fundraising and the development of those individuals involved in the field of veterinary medicine, TVMF greatly extends the outreach of the Texas Veterinary Medical Association (TVMA). TVMF is supported through tax-deductible donations and gifts from the public, veterinarians and pharmaceutical and veterinary supply industries. Please visit www.tvmf.org for more information.
