Concordia Publishing Releases New Commentary Volume

Saint Louis, MO—Concordia Publishing House (CPH) is pleased to announce the release of the twenty-third volume in the Concordia Commentary series. The new commentary covers 1, 2, and 3 John and is written to enable pastors and teachers of the Word to proclaim the Gospel with greater insight, clarity, and faithfulness to the divine intent of the biblical text.

The biblical texts covered in this commentary represent the singular voice of an extraordinary theologian—John, the last living apostle, who was writing to his “children.”

The elder father rallies the faithful and urges his children to confess by the Spirit in this last hour the man Jesus as the Son of the Father. First John is a general epistle, while 2 John is its introductory cover letter, and 3 John is a situation-specific, personal, and pastoral addendum that addresses an errant leader’s conduct.

The author of this commentary, Dr. Bruce G. Schuchard, is professor of exegetical theology at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, Missouri, where he also serves as dean of advanced studies.

To subscribe to the Concordia Commentary series, visit cph.org or call 1-800-325-3040. The list price for single commentaries is $49.99, but subscribers save 30% at the price of $34.99 and receive new additions to the series automatically.
