Baked Goods become Feel Goods this Thanksgiving with Pie in the Sky

DENVER (Oct. 22, 2013) – Show gratitude while giving back this Thanksgiving with the Pie in the Sky pie sale benefiting those fighting cancer, kidney failure, HIV/AIDS and other life-threatening illnesses. Project Angel Heart, a Colorado-based nonprofit organization that prepares and delivers nutritious meals to ailing women, men and children in the Denver metro area and Colorado Springs, is selling holiday pies to benefit their home-delivered meal program.

The Pie in the Sky pie sale kicks off Oct. 15 and offers residents of the Denver metro area and Colorado Springs the opportunity to purchase scrumptious seasonal pies featuring festive flavors including apple, cherry, pumpkin and pecan online for just $25 each ($20 is tax deductible). With each pie that is purchased, Project Angel Heart will prepare and deliver five nutritious meals to a Coloradan in need. Purchasers can pick up their pies at various locations in Denver and Colorado Springs on November 26.

“Our hope is that purchasing a pie from our Pie in the Sky program becomes a new tradition for Coloradans,” said Erin Pulling, President & CEO at Project Angel Heart. “ It is such a is a simple way to support those battling life-threatening illness and because all pies have been generously donated—100 percent—by Bluepoint Bakery, each pie sold will have a tremendous impact on our neighbors in need.”

Thanks to Anadarko Petroleum Corporation, the presenting sponsor of Pie in the Sky pie sale, current Project Angel Heart clients will also receive pumpkin pie, to enjoy and share with friends or family, along with their Thanksgiving meal.

“At Anadarko, giving back to the communities where we live and work is part of who we are,” said Amy Venturi, director of social investment for Anadarko.  “In addition to our support for this worthwhile cause, we want to reach out to those in who are struggling with illness this Thanksgiving.”

Bluepoint Bakery, a wholesale gourmet bakery located in Denver, has once again teamed up with Project Angel Heart to make this event possible. Bluepoint Bakery makes a full line of products, including gourmet pies, with an emphasis on quality and natural ingredients.

With the support of volunteer pie sellers, pie-selling teams and community members, Project Angel Heart hopes to sell 2,000 pies by Nov. 22, which will provide 10,000 meals to Project Angel Heart clients. For more details about Pie in the Sky, visit
