New Survey Report Finds International Mobility Planning is a Weakness for Most Companies

December 5, 2013 – Plus Relocation Services, Inc. (PLUS) has just released their much-anticipated pulse survey, Planning for International Mobility. With 68 companies participating, results reveal the preparation, coordination, and education encompassing the planning stage of cross-border assignments and transfers as a significant weakness faced by many companies. This report details the gaps between the best practices employed by leading companies and the industry as a whole.

“Global mobility is an increasingly important component of business success,” says Chris Pardo, Vice President of Global Services for PLUS. “We were surprised to find that very few global mobility professionals rate their companies as excellent at planning.” In fact, only 17% of respondents rated their companies as excellent in this area, with 53% valuing their approach as fair/mediocre, and a substantial 30% reporting that they do not plan well.

Chris Pardo says that there is good news for companies that rate themselves poorly in this area. “We found three key differentiators among companies that excelled at planning: providing adequate time for the planning stage, selecting the best candidate for each assignment or transfer, and developing a support system for employees abroad.”

The report contains information on these best practices, as well as recommendations for global mobility teams that are seeking to make improvements to their
planning processes. To request a copy of this report, please contact Jody Walstrom, Communication Manager, at 952.512.5523 or
